Heretical Ramblings 01

There we go, was waiting for the new year to restart the numbering. ;)

I was off work this week, burning the last of my vacation time for 2016. Pretty productive week, too!

I was pointed at a nifty tool, that I completely went overboard with. KanbanFlow.com, if you want to go look.

A quick screen snip, and where a picture is worth a thousand words or something. I put the unit in whatever spot it belongs, and when it progresses, I move it closer to Done. Hopefully it helps me have a higher finish rate than last year...

So, it hasnt all been playing on the computer, I also managed to build stuff! My first two units for my Tzeentch force for Age of Sigmar. I do have another unit of Knights, and two Chaos Chariots to build, which along with the Sorcerer on Manticore should bring be close enough to 1000 points.

Right, back to building stuff!

Die 2016, die!

Well, that has been a year, hasnt it? So, yeah. Hobby stuff. This week, I got distracted a bit...
First I decided to paint something a bit different, and dusted off a Trollblood Impaler that had been sitting for a VERY long time... Also decided to play with my light box a bit more, and try out the other colored backgrounds. I like how it looks with the blue.

I also started work on this little piggy... pic was taken while the paint was still drying, and I dont think I got much further. Yet.

So, since this is more of a year end post, how did I do, painting-wise over all that time I wasnt blogging? Well... Best guess I can put together from everything I posted over the past year on Twitter is that I worked on 424 models through the year. Whether that is slapping paint, or building, or whatever. Obviously I didnt BUY 424 models last year, many of those have just carried over a few years now.

But how many models did I actually finish work on? That number is MUCH less impressive... Best guess is... 57. Guess I am going to have to try harder in 2017.

The Year of Tzeentch

I am not known for my army stability. At All. Now, I have toyed with the idea of sticking with a single faction for a full year before, but always laughed it off. Well, Ol' Bear mentioned trying to stick with a faction on Twitter a few months back, and the idea... stuck. Maybe this was the time to try?

So, us Fn'A guys talked it over, and we all decided to make 2017 a year where we each picked a faction in a game, and tried to stick to just that (only when we play that game, other games are still fair game!). Kev is working on Union for Guild Ball. Bear is sticking with the Stormcast Eternals for Age of Sigmar. Even Marc is getting in, and painting a team for Guild Ball.

And myself? (Hint: look at the blog post title.) I decided to overdo it. Like usual. A full Year of Tzeentch, in both 40k and AoS. Fortuitous timing, right? Hehehe! So, the basic plan is Tzeentchian Chaos Space Marines, and Tzeentch Arcanites. And Daemons. And Tzaangors to go either way. And... Yeah, this still has the potential to get silly. Here is my thinking on each game so far...

40k: Thousand Sons have already been started, as everyone has seen. Buuuuut I have some ideas I REALLY want to build, that just dont fit the "All is Dust" theme, so Ill probably have an allied renegade Tzeentchian warband, to catch all these misfits. And then there are the Tzeentch daemons that I will be collecting and painting, because daemon summoning. *cough*

Age of Sigmar: Arcanites are the obvious place to start (and finish), but you just can't eat just one. Or something. I think the easiest way to go will be to limit myself to whatever is in the new Disciples of Tzeentch book.

And since I am an over achiever... Shut up back there... Yeah, Ive gotten a head start on things.

So, here is Ahriman, waiting for some paint...

And here is an Exalted Sorcerer, and a Tzeentch Sorcerer Lord, and... Ahriman?!?

Which brings us to the Horus Heresy... I have a second Legion force all built and primed white. The plan was to paint them as Imperial Fists... but I havnt done that yet. They are all generic MkIV models from Betrayal at Calth. I also have a set from Burning of Prospero still waiting to be built. With the Year of Tzeentch, I am seriously tempted to change my plans and go for the XVth Legion instead. The biggest thing keeping me from just doing it, is that locally, we are very short on Loyalist legion players.

We will see what happens...

Another burst of Heretical Ramblings

Wow, two weeks of Ramblings again. Something is going on here!!

This week I was rather busy with my Thousand Sons. I built another Rubricae squad, a Scarab Occult unit, and a trio of Exalted Sorcerers. Brings my collection up to 1500 points. So, not only did I build them, I got some painting done too!

I watched the "Painting Rubricae" video on WarhammerTV and decided to follow some/many steps, including painting them gold first, to get all the trim dealt with.

Wont be getting any painting done this weekend, as I have a meeting and party taking all my time up, but hope to get the blue started before next weekend...

Heretical Ramblings #18

Late? Perhaps, but I fully intend to blame helping my sister-in-law move on Friday for that.

--------------------------------------------------
News-

The Age of Sigmar train keeps on rolling, and I am still liking what I see. Got the new book, finally, and enjoyed the whole damn thing. Not much else is going on for hobby. Right? Nope, nothing exciting...

Except..

What is that... No...

PLASTIC MKIV SPACE MARINES!! Sorry, had to say it. Rumor sites around will have the pics available, so go hunting!  I am already plotting plans and planning plots on how I will be using these models, whenever they may be released.

--------------------------------------------------
Hobby & Gaming-

Been slowly working on my first unit of Stormcast Eternals, decided to use part of my test model's scheme, and am painting them as Hallowed Knights.

--------------------------------------------------
Ideas-

Obviously MKIV is on the brain tonight, so a slowball for you: Night Lords. Mix in a few stolen Imperial bits, and the Warband of the Exalted would be simpler than snot.

Heretical Ramblings #17

--------------------------------------------------
News-

Lets see, Age of Sigmar has a big book on the way, as does Hordes. A new Heresy novel is lined up, I think.

AoS scenery pics are floating around, getting me tempted to work on my table again.
--------------------------------------------------
Hobby & Gaming-

No gaming done recently, for shame. But I did get a bit of building worked out...

Still need to assemble the Khorne guys, just six of the marau...sorry Bloodreavers built so far.
--------------------------------------------------
Ideas-

Fun theme this week: Slaaneshi Dark Mechanicum. Lots of servitors, only they are not brain-wiped, but entirely conscious of their situation..

Heretical Ramblings #16

--------------------------------------------------
News-
Big news is Age of Sigmar! Yay! Wait, no real new news lately. Hrm. New book next week, lots of pics of Stormcast Eternals units and assorted terrain. New icon on the Chaos Wheel has everyone crapping kittens, but I am 90% certain that it is a variant of Slannesh's mark.

PP has new Kromac and Farrow Warlords catching my eye. More stuff I need to work on...

I bought Deathfire tonight, going to start reading that as soon as I finish writing this up. ;)

--------------------------------------------------
Hobby & Gaming-
No games, but since Im getting my copy of AoS tomorrow, well, Im sure SOMETHING will get played soon.

Only painting done was that Stormcast Eternal Liberator, that I showed Tuesday. Ive since repainted the hammer head to match the armor. Was very not happy with how it looked. Still telling myself Im not starting that army. I think even I have stopped listening to myself....
--------------------------------------------------
Ideas-

Little different this time. Assuming I paint the Stormcast in the AoS box like I did my freeby, how would I paint the Dracoth (Dragon beast mount)? Bluish steel armor is the main, so a gold (Maybe light brown, maybe orange?) might contrast best, but Im kinda thinking dark red instead. Problem there is confusion when matched up with the Khorne models from the same set. Ideas?

Heretical Ramblings #15

Another wander through my week...

--------------------------------------------------
News-

Age of Sigmar leaks are in full flow, and so is the Nerdrage. Seriously, so much nerdrage...

I am personally very excited about this edition... oh wait, we are calling it a new game now, right? Whichever. Some stuff is still unclear, but Im willing to wait for full disclosure before flying the Jolly Rodger.

--------------------------------------------------
Hobby & Gaming-

As shown earlier this week, Ive got a unit of Death Guard Tactical marines on the table, they have gotten their white finished, and I need to move on to the green shoulders, and all the metal bits.

I also took a break and moved the Undead characters I have onto 32mm bases (proper bases, not extended 25mms).

I like how it looks. I did this for the FW Wight King BSB, a Liche Priest, a plastic Necromancer, and a plastic Tomb King. The latter two actually were a bit of a pain, as they have the molded bases. I ended up clipping the sides off their bases, gluing that onto the larger base, then using greenstuff to fill the gaps. Once I decide how Ill be finishing the bases for this army, Ill take care of the rest.

All the troops are (currently) staying on square bases, but since nothing is based or primed, I still have the option to change things up.

--------------------------------------------------
Ideas-

Those following me on Twitter know Ive been bouncing this idea for most of the week now.

Pick a Chaos God. Devise an appropriate color scheme. Apply said color scheme to the relevant Daemons, Chaos Warriors, and Chaos Marines. Perhaps add the appropriate 30k Legion too.

So, example. Start with Khorne, get some Bloodletters. Add in the Goretide force from AoS (All round bases now, important!), add in a Khorne Daemonkin warband of your choosing, painted to match the daemons and Goretide. Very thematic collection for your shelf/display case, right? Add in some 30k World Eaters too (you know they will get daemons soon enough).

Biggest reason I havnt already gotten a bunch of Bloodletters? Id rather play Nurgle. ;)

Heretical Ramblings #14

Muh hah hah hah! Still going! On time today too!

--------------------------------------------------
News-

Slow news week is slow.

--------------------------------------------------
Hobby & Gaming-

Had a game planned for Wednesday, but that got pushed back to Saturday.... which then got pushed up to Friday. We will see what happens. ;) 35pts of Farrow (under the command of Lord Carver), vs the Protectorate of Menoth. No idea which caster he will be using.

Hobby side has been slow, still have that Road Hog on the desk waiting to get cleaned up.

--------------------------------------------------
Ideas-

I was looking at the Imperial Fists entries for the Horus Heresy today, and noticed that Sigismund can take Templar Brethren as troops choices. This took me on an amusing train of thought.

Sigismund. Two Legion Champions. Six units of Templar Brethren. Nine Black Templars Venerable Dreadnoughts (three claws of three). Maybe some Land Raiders as transports.

More Templar than Templar.

Heretical Ramblings #13

Posting on Monday, rather than Friday? Did I get lazy again? Nope! I get to blame technical difficulties this time! Yay technical difficulties!

--------------------------------------------------
News-

News... Uhh. Hmm. Dark Angels codex is up for pre-orders, as expected. I'm skipping this one for a few months, as I want to save money for....

Age of Sigmar. Ive seen two almost exactly opposite sets of rumors about this new edition already, so my stance is now officially "Ill believe it when I see it". Plan is that Ill get the rule book release, and the starter game box (if there is one). But, I'm going to hold off on new armies until they have all been released, so I can decide which I actually like rather than start each in turn when I decide I like the newer one better than the previous.

--------------------------------------------------
Hobby & Gaming-

Gaming... Last Saturday I got one final game with Robert in... and lets just say we are both glad there were no pics of that game. He played Chaos Marines, and I am embarrassed that I tabled him. My Knight Crusader is unofficially retired from smaller games.

On the hobby side, well, I purchased the new Warmachine book Reckoning, and you know what that means, right? Yep, I am working on Farrow again! (No, don't try to understand.) Ive managed to knock out Rorsh & Brine, a full unit of 10 Farrow Brigands, a Razorback crew, and even the Opera Piggy herself: Helga the Conqueror. Right now, I have a Road Hog waiting for assembly.

--------------------------------------------------
Ideas-

Just a color scheme idea this week. Someday, I want to see someone paint up a Space Marine army in a Dia de Muertos (the Mexican holiday, Day of the Dead) style. Would look pretty cool, I think!

Heretical Ramblings #12

Remembered to post over my vacation time, somehow!

--------------------------------------------------
News-

Just the final breath before Codex Space Marines is out, will be rushing to the shop for that later today or early tomorrow!

Got my pre-order in for Reckoning, as well as the Theme Forces book, next weekend I think. Lots of reading coming up!

Age of Sigmar is confirmed, but no real facts are out about what exactly it really is. Still in "wait and see" mode.

My copy of Tempest (book five of the Horus Heresy series) arrived this week, once again a very good read, and giving me all sorts of ideas for another new 30k force...

--------------------------------------------------
Hobby & Gaming-

Mortarion and my Cygnar still languish in their half-prepared states, but I added something new to my collection...

No, I havnt forgotten my House Hodagi knight, but the Eye of Horus and dead loyalist parts didnt strike me as something I should use with my Storm Fists all that often, so....

As far as gaming, I got in two games with Robert this past week, both 40k. My Skitarii (and Knight Errant) vs Tyranids the first game, and (with Knight Crusader) against his Flesh Tearers the second. Both very fun, and very indicative of just how brutal Knights can be (and also of how fragile).

--------------------------------------------------
Ideas-

Bit of a hobby idea/tip this week, rather than a theme suggestion. The carapace of the Imperial Knight kit has a hole through it, where you can plug in whichever of the new missile pods or autocannons you desire. I stuck a magnet to the underside of the carapace, and drilled a hole into the peg on the weapons. I then cut a tiny bit of paper clip and glued into that hollowed out peg. Easily magnetized weapons!

Heretical Ramblings #11

Missed last week, whoops. I fully intend to blame the office's AC being on the blink, and being to hot and miserable to even think. Good excuse, right? ;)

--------------------------------------------------
News-

Space Marine rumors are starting to flow, and I am getting all sorts of excited over that. Wondering what Ill need to buy to fill out some of the formations...

Lock & Load is this weekend, and Ive already seen a few tasty leaks. One in particular has me considering dusting off my Circle Orboros. Again.

Warhammer Fantasy/Age of Sigmar has a date now. I officially have a month before I need to start caring again.
--------------------------------------------------
Hobby & Gaming-

No games lately, which is kinda sad. HOWEVER! I have a game scheduled with the brother this evening, and another with Rob tomorrow night.

As mentioned earlier this week, Ive got some paint slapped on my Skitarii, going for a Metalica look, I think. Reconsidering again, sadly.

Until I figure where I am going with them, I am planning on working on Storm Fists. Ive got a unit of Terminators half painted, and bikers in roughly the same state.

--------------------------------------------------
Ideas-

Usual dose of wacky ideas?  Something smaller scale this week, I think.

Take a look at the Ultramarines Invictarii heads and torsos kit from Forge World. Shave the "U" off the models, and what do you have? Some damn good looking Honor Guard. Just add Sternguard legs and shoulders. Now, one of the rumors says Honor Guard are no longer a thing, but Im betting they are getting rolled into the Command Squad entry. We will see...

Heretical Ramblings #10

Hooray, I managed to keep up for two and a half months! Yay me!

Should be recording a new episode of Flock and Awe later this afternoon, so expect that.... eventually.

Toying with the layout, let me know what you think?

--------------------------------------------------
News-

Rumors for the new Space Marine book are starting to flow, and with me being an Astartes-phile, Im feeling like a kid in a candy store. Not believing a single one until I see proof though.

Did you see that Warlord Titan? Of course you did. Almost makes me wish I were willing to do anything with any sort of titan. Up until I see the price tags, that is.

--------------------------------------------------
Hobby & Gaming-

Not much painting... Ok, no painting done at all. HOWEVER! I did get enough 25mm -> 32mm conversion rings for my Storm Fists, and got my first unit ringed and based. Should be painting them this weekend.
 Rings glued on.

And sand!

Ill admit, Im not overly fond of these rings, a bit too much space in between. Ah well.

I was debating whether I should do the rings for my Scouts as well...

 Hooray cellphone pics!

Quick poll on Twitter was about 60/40 in favor of staying with the smaller bases, which is how I was leaning, so scouts on 25mm, power armor on 32mm, and terminators on 40mm. I am still considering what colors to paint the bases, leaning towards the same as before, possibly with the rim black instead of brown. Possibly.

I did decide that I will be using this opportunity to touch up some details Id skipped on several (all but the first, to be honest) units. The lightning bolts being the main.

Still no games played recently, need to get my dice dusted off soon!

--------------------------------------------------
Ideas-

Twofer this week, simple ideas though. Just alternate paint ideas, really.

-Imperial Fists, painted metallic gold, instead of the traditional yellow.
-Space Wolves, in polished silver armor. Keep all the normal markings and details, just change the base grey. This idea amuses me mostly because of the werewolf/silver connection. ;)

Heretical Ramblings #9

Woo, last single digit Heretical Ramblings! Party! ...or something.

Let's see, what is new and shiny? Hmm. New plastic Stormclad and Reliant kit for Cygnar, I like the look of those, will see about picking one or more up, down the line a bit.

I bought the new Imperial Knights book last weekend, and am torn between working more on Hodagi, or maybe doing up a House for 40k to go with my Storm Fists. We will see.

The AdMech stuff is trickling up on the webstore now. Robots and servitors, and half-naked tattooed fanatics. So far, I have to say I am under-inspired here. I don't think they are bad, just not what Ive been waiting for. Maybe I just need more, better pics.

Ive gotten a bit more work on Mortarion done, about to start with some green crud on the bronze, then moving on to the iron areas. Also working on the Skitarii Vanguard, their metal bits are mostly done, next up is all the cloth bits.

No gaming this past week, but might get something this weekend. Maybe. Hopefully. C'mon, Ive got new red & black d6s to use for my Skitarii!

Idea for this week is actually what I am planning on doing for my House Hodagi Knights. As Ive said before, the Errant I have now is supposed to be a Junior Knight, newly elevated. However, any that I add after will be veterans, and will have the full markings, symbols, and accoutrements of their house.

Feral Knights - Imperial Knights, with pelts and trophies from their monster kills, and chains of the skulls of their worthy victims. Not intended to be "chaotic" or evil, just more regressed than average. I have seen a few Space Wolf themed Knights that are close to my idea, but still seem to push the "noble savage" idea, rather than the simply savage.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Before I call it done, a request for feedback! Ive been sticking with a News/Gaming & Painting/Idea format so far, but is there any ideas or suggestions on making this more interesting? Should I label the sections? Come up with a format for my ideas? Stop stealing from Bear? (Never happen, his pocket keeps my hand warm!)

Heretical Ramblings #8

Time for me to ramble a bit again...

Lets see, what is shiny to me this week? A few more Cygnar Warjacks, and I still need to work on what I have.

Imperial Knights are up, and they are pretty. Really tempted to get another one with the book this weekend, but I really want to try saving money for....

New Space Marine codex rumors are running around, and inspiring me to work on my Storm Fists again. Well, them, or another new Codex army. I haven't ruled anything out yet.

Finished the Onager, as you may have seen, and now am working on Mortarion. Started the bronze trim since the last pic. Hoping to get further along this weekend, though I might take a break and get back to some Skitarii instead. Or some Long Gunners...

Played 1k points of 30k Death Guard vs Orks last weekend. Managed to get some power armor in the list, rather than all terminators. That may have been a mistake, as I got tabled.

Fun idea I had recently: Ultramar Auxilla. Use the IG/AM list, and paint all the units in a similar scheme, except their right shoulder pad. That gets a unique color set based on which world the unit/platoon originates from.

Heretical Ramblings #7

News this week seems to be all about the new Knights (and the knee-jerk nerdrage over it being 14 months since the last book was released). Im looking forward to these, will be fun to see more on the table. There were also leaked pics of the new AdMech priests, track-bodies, and robots. Definitely going to be adding some of these eventually, once I get the Skitarii sorted out. Maybe.

The same day we recorded the Skitarii review, Bear recorded something of a rant on GW. Ended up being more of a discussion, but figured Id share. Linkie!!

As seen earlier this week, Im working on the Onager still, need to put more color on the upper half.

Im also (still) working on my first Long Gunners unit, gotta finish up their bases so I can move on to the second unit, then prime and paint the army up (it is Stryker's theme list).

Played two games against my brother this past weekend, first was Skitarii vs Orks, 1000pts. He was unprepared for all their zany rules and oddities. Honestly, so was I, but I had the advantage of knowing what they did.

Second game was 1500pts of Drop Pod Storm Fists vs Orks. That one was rougher on me, not sure who won, as we stopped trying objectives early on and went for kills.

All this 40k recently is starting to wear on me, need to get a game of WarmaHordes or something else in soon...

Fun little idea I was toying with earlier was how to make a Battleforged 8th Company army. Oddly, very easy.

Captain on bike.
Command Squad on bikes
6 units of 10 Space Marine Bikers
3 10-man Space Marine Assault Squads
2 units of 5 Assault Centurions.

Heretical Ramblings #6

News this week, there was some! Let's start off with that Total War: Warhammer trailer, since EVERYONE ELSE IS TALKING ABOUT IT. Trailer was pretty. Am I interested in the game itself? Nope. Id rather paint my models. ;)

That Assassins game from GW was spoiled. Assassin models are pretty cool, but really don't like the trend of trying to show models "in action" by including scenery on the base, or worse yet as part of the model itself. Im looking at you, Eversor. Am I going to get this game? Nope. Not a fan of "bored" games at all. Ill see about getting the assassins if/when GW releases them on their own.

Rumors are flowing hot and heavy about the Cults of Mars and new Imperial Knights. Only sounds like two main types of priest currently, hopefully they have more of the "Enginseer" type lined up. Maybe in the full AdMech book, whenever it may appear. Im hoping these Knight rumors pan out, I had fun with my first one, and would like to do another soon.

Privateer showed of Major Prime Haley, and Im getting the itch to work on Cygnar some more. Toying with the idea of painting "Modern" normally, but "Past" and "Future"as blue glows, kinda like Star Wars.

Havnt done much painting recently, though I did get all 1,000pts of my Skitarii assembled, as you saw on Wednesday. Since then, Ive started work on the base and lower portion of the Onager, with plans to get those two done and glued together so I can use the model in a game, which brings me to....

Didnt get any games this past week, but I have a 1000pt game of 40k against the brother tonight, Skitarii against Orks. He was threatening to build some Meganobs for the game, but looks like he decided against actually working. List I have built and will be using looks like:

10 Vanguard
10 Rangers
5 Ruststalkers
5 Infiltrators
1 Dragoon
1 Onager

No idea what he will bring, beyond a lot of boys and probably a Nobs unit, but sure Ill be outnumbered by at least 2-1.

Rather than my usual "fun ideas", this week Im looking at how I want to expand my Skitarii up to 1500pts. Current plan is adding my Knight Errant, an additional two Dragoons to the unit, and a few relics, though I might go with a second Onager, or maybe fill out my Ruststalkers unit to 10. Not going to decide until I get them all painted.

Heretical Ramblings #5

Another week, another Ramble!

Rumors are in flow, mostly about Eldar. The ones I care about, though, are the Age of Darkness bits. Nothing really new and exciting on that side though, so meh.

Picked up the starter of my Skitarii army on Saturday, two boxes of small infantry, two of larger, and a Chickenwalker. Getting an Onager this weekend, and will have a full Maniple formation. My original plan was to paint them as being from the Metalica Forge World, however, after some chin-scratching, I decided to go with Forge World Gersi, ally to Knight House Hodagi, and servant to the Death Guard Legion. Locally, we decided that until we hear otherwise, we are treating the AdMech books as being equivalent to the Mechanicum faction in 30k. Besides, its not like they are going to totally ignore the possibility of bringing the "light" Skitarii into 30k.

As far as gaming, the brother and I played 1000pts of 40k last weekend, Orks against Storm Fists. I used the basic codex variant of my Dark Angels list (2 tac, Captain, Librarian, bikes, terminators), and lost only due to his getting First Blood.

Should be recording a new episode of Flock and Awe later today, I think. I know Bear is planning a rant on GW, this should be interesting...

New, fun army ideas for this week? Well, Im going to leave that up to you, just with the suggestion/idea of using AdMech as Mechanicum in 30k...

Heretical Ramblings #4

Been a slack-tastic week on the hobby front. At least on the wargaming hobby front. I did manage to read the first 51 issues of Batman Eternal this week. ;)

The Skitarii releases are winding down, only the Onager remains for this book's cycle, and I am finally starting to admit defeat on starting them. Of course, rather than going with the easy/logical route and theming them towards the Imperial force I already have, I am thinking of starting a new, fully themed Imperial army. Maybe even stealing part (or more) of Bear's idea that I shared a few weeks ago. Never easy.

Hobby work has been limited to me doing the trench-works basing on a unit of Long Gunners. I intended on at least priming the Terminators, but the rain had something to say about that.

No games this week, not even against my brother. We just sat and talked this past weekend. Might get a game this coming weekend. Hopefully.

So, silly hobby idea? This is where I am looking right now, but there are a few variations possible...

Basic idea: Space Marine Chapter, with local PDF/Guardsmen support, allied with Skitarii from Forge World X, and their allied Knight Household.
-Ultramarines, with Ultramar IG regiments, Metalica Skitarii, and House Raven Knights. Go with stone and snow bases.
-Iron Hands, with descendants of the Chainveil, Forge World and Knights of the Stryken System (11 houses!).
-Salamanders, with Catachan, and... Uhh, not sure there. Least formed option here, but I am thinking lava bases.

Heretical Ramblings #3

Still rambling! Yay!

Not much on the news side really caught my eye this week. Skitarii are pretty, but I am not entirely sure where I am going with 40k at the moment, so I am holding off. I do have to say that those skinny, larger based models (Rust Stalkers/Infiltrators) seem odd to me. Not what I was expecting.

Some of you might have noticed I didn't post a model pic yesterday. Well, Ill have it up on Tuesday. I finished painting up Stryker (prime). I also assembled a unit of Terminators for my Storm Fists (more behind this below), and am aiming to start work on a unit of Cygnar Long Gunners over the weekend.

Was supposed to play against the DT Thursday, but that got screwed up by the wife's plans. Boo! Still last weekend I got a 1,000pt game of 40k against my brother, Orks against Dark Angels. Quick answer is I didnt have enough firepower, and got stomped. I tried to deep strike some Deathwing in, but got a mishap, and they ended in the far corner, to not do anything at all over the entire game. Ah well.

Later on after that game, I discovered that if I used my Storm Fists to replicate the Dark Angels list Id used, it came out at about 900pts. All I needed to add was a unit of Terminators... which were in box on the shelf. So, Ill be running that against him next time.

Been focusing on Cygnar recently, so my fun army idea is based... not on that.

-Constance Blaize is a Merc Warcaster, right? Well, take her as such, and assorted Merc units, as a "religious uprising" to counter the Menoth Crusades. Just don't tell Kev that I am looking at Mercs. ;)
