Its taken a while, but the bug has hit me again. I want to do something new and different. In 40k, thats a problem, since the only army that has ever had a book that Ive never attempted before is Daemons. Ive got some daemons, from different Chaos Marine armies, but nothing concrete as an army.
Ive been thinking whatever I do, has to not be Space Marines. Ive done tons of them. Im actually considering a Fantasy army. Empire is tempting cuz I like humans, and they are a fairly flexible force. Beastmen have been on my list, mainly because of the potential for conversions. Id have to pick up a few more Chaos Spawn sets just for all the tentecles Id want to add... and Id need the "Skippy's Revenge" Chaos Hound unit (inside joke). I was talking to Mikie earlier, and he suggested Ogre Kingdoms, and Im still not really interested in continuing work on the models gathering dust in my closet. Then we started talking about High Elves... He seems to think they are a powerful army (top 5 or so), where I think they may hit decently, but have something even worse then a glass jaw. So, I got to thinking, maybe he is right... Ive still got that battalion box in my closet...
I made up a few lists here, first two are 40k Daemons, one Nurgle and one Slaanesh. For each of those all Id have to buy is two boxes of lesser daemons. The third list is 500 poins of High Elves, using stuff I already have.... oddly enough, it looks a lot like the Dwarf list I made up for the Escalation Thing... I still dont know for sure what Im doing for a new army, but those High Elves are at least getting assembled, and I might throw some money at one of the Daemon lists next week, at the very least I could use the Plaguebearers for my Purge CSMs...

The future of the Monday Top Ten
No, Im not going to stop doing it, and no Im not changing the format... What I am going to change is when I do it.
I usually do the whole thing right after I get to work on Monday nights. This isnt an issue, since work is slow. One of the problems Ive had for a while now is that almost all pictures not hosted on the blogs themselves were getting blocked by the webfilter. Annoying, and Im sure I missed out on a number of great pics to share.
Last night, however, something new came up. BoLS is now filtered. "Thats not a big deal, you hardly link them anyways!" My point being that if BoLS is filtered, how long until other sites worthy of links get blocked as well? So, starting next week with #20, Ill be doing these from home.
My question is this: Do I do it after my Sunday night shift, or after my Monday night shift? If I take option b, its actually going out on Tuesday. If I do it Monday morning, I risk being distracted by WoW and rum. (FYI, WoW usually does patches and whatnot on Tuesdays, right after I get home.) Realistically, Im betting most people wouldnt notice a difference if I did it Tuesdays.
As a side thought, if I start doing it on Tuesdays, I might change the name to the T3. ;)
Opinions/thoughts/rants?

Monday Top Ten #19
Lots of stuff to dig through this week...
1. Bushido Red Panda has a nicely painted Commander Culln.
2. Sigmar has found a list of all GW publications and releases since 1979.
3. WildEyedJester has a tactica for dealing with your hobby and significant other.
4. Klaus lays out the tools of the trade...
5. ...and then he shows us how he makes molds for resins and what can happen if you dont read the directions.
6. Pnakotik tells us what he listens to, and should not listen to while painting.
7. Big D has a very nice Keeper of Secrets.
8. Dave's creepy little guys are, well, CREEPY.
9. Chris has a converted Nurgle Dreadnought, I might steal the colors for a project Im looking at...
10. Ctreleheb has some converted Death Guard up too, this time infantry.
As an added bonus, something not related to mini gaming in any way at all, Kelly talks about why we SHOULD clone woolly mammoths. Never say I never tried to broaden your horizons. :)

Playing dead...
This weekend SUCKED. Almost chest wound bad... I took my first sick day from work in about a decade.
Obviously, I didnt get any gaming done. I also havnt gotten to doing up a "FTW timesavers post" (you will see more on that when Ron posts it). I spent most of the weekend either sleeping or trying to not cough my spleen out while playing WoW. I was mostly successful.
What I did do that was gaming related was pull out my WoC book and look at it for a while in conjunction with the WHFRP Tome of Corruption. I love that book's list of mutations, its always an interesting place to get mutant conversion ideas. One of these days Im gonna go roll up a completely random spawn and then build it... Eventually.
Over the past several weeks Ive been rereading the Horus Heresy series, and finished up Legion last Thursday. Ive got Battle for the Abyss next to me, and will be starting that soon. Ive noticed as I go through the series, I get the urge to work on Space Marines more and more. Of course, what chapter it is depends on what Im reading... It was World Eaters during the third book, Death Guard for the 4th, Noise Marines for Fulgrim, and lately Alpha Legion with Legion... Im wondering if Ill want to play Smurfs or Word Bearers with this one?
Having said that, I do have a bit of the new army bug. Thinking Ill be lining up a 500 point list of something to play with, not too sure what of though... Maybe Word Bearers. ;)
