So, I came to a decision this morning, Im turning my one mostly easily managable project and turning it into two... kinda.
The Zeist Campaign is mostly the later founding chapters that are involved, being led by Captain Sicarius of the Ultramarines.
The Founding Legions Project is my making things difficult for myself! Im planning on painting models for each of the nine loyalist legions, as they stand at M41. Im half considering adding special characters, even though I normally dont use them, just to cement the character of the chapter.
This sort of solves a problem Ive noticed lately: The Red Scorpions. Whats the problem? Its that I was trying to keep them as part of the whole, instead of being the whole. Im hoping this "redistribution" forces me to refocus on the crusade, and not just one chapter.
So, saying Im doing this doesnt really force me to do anything, does it? Thats why I created project logs for the Founding Legions Project and for the Zeist Campaign. My goal is to add at least one set of pictures of a painted unit to each listing each month. Thats two units each month total, simple, right?
Im planning on keeping this one open for all the normal day to day blogging and whatnot, and using those two for project specific pictures and fluff.
My chattering about anything that comes across my painting table, and some stuff that doesn't!

The greatest of projects
To me, there is a difference between an army and a project. An army is usually designed for gaming, but there is often a fluff component. A project is usually fluff based, and isnt always designed to be an army, but can and often is used as one. By this logic, roughly half of my armies are projects.
Projects can be anything, from a single squad that you decide to give a unique paint job and history, up to attempting a full battle company or even a Chapter, for the truely insane.
My current project (the Crusade) is one of the more insane ones Ive heard of, but not one of the most insane that Ive had. Once upon a time, I was planning on making a 2000 point army for each of the Traitor Legions. Ive still got some of the Iron Warriors, Night Lords, and Word Bearers sitting around, but most of the work ended up going into my Black Legion, sitting somewhere around 5k points these days. I was also looking at doing the same with the First Founding.
So, once again, Im looking at my Crusade, still sitting on my shelf (I think this is a record for how long an army has remained set up there), and trying to tell myself that I need to finish this before I start another project, though the idea of adding at least a single squad from each of the First Founding is getting better and better. Really, all Id need is Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Iron Hands, White Scars, and Raven Guard... The other four already have at least a single tactical squad.
So, anyways, what I was trying to get at is what are some of the projects you have done, seen, or heard of? Ever have the great idea for one, but never got around to it?

Dark Elves, Or I need to decide on a Fantasy army!
When they were released, I traded for a Dark Elf Battalion set, and picked up a hero model as lead. Eventually I managed to get them all assembled, but it was hard for me to maintain interest, since I didnt really have a theme for them. I still dont. However, I think I might try something different (for me at least) and try to actually build an effective army.
So, lets look at what Ive got:
Master w/ hand weapon, shield, heavy armor
12 Spear elves w/ shields and command
16 Crossbow elves w/ Command
20 Corsairs w/ two hand weapons and command
5 Cold One Knights w/ command
First thing I need to do is obvious, I need a Sorceress. More spear elves wouldnt hurt either.
I think Im going to go goal based with this, so I actually have something to aim for. Keith has about 10k of Greenskins, so thats an idea for the outside goal, but Mikie only has about 600 points of Skaven, so thats a more realistic first goal, and I think one met without purchasing a single model.
Master w/ Heavy Armor, Shield
86
12 Spear elves w/ shields, full command
99
16 Crossbow elves w/ full command
180
20 Corsairs w/full command
225
Total 590
My next goal would be 1000 points, but I want to try this out first... maybe Ill get one of them to face it this weekend...

Saturday Game
Mikie and I had our game this afternoon. 2250, Nurgloid Chaos Marines VS Sisters of Battle. Game should have been a win for me, he had a single squad of battle sisters left, where I had about 70% of my force remaining. However, it was not. I keep telling people that my Nurgle armies are hell for me to win with, but hell to win against. Mikie saw that first hand.
We had three objectives, and none of them had any troops nearby at the end of the game (I had a plague marine squad about 15 inches from one, and was trying to get there for T6).
That photo above does not inspire confidence, does it? That was my To Wound roll with my Greater Daemon after he charged a unit of Nuns... Hit six times, rolled a one for ALL the wounds...
And yes, I still need to get that second sheet of fabric to base my table...
