The Good News: My company finally got someone to work the day shift, so Im not pulling 10 hour nights anymore!
The Bad News: My company finally got someone to work the day shift, so Im not pulling 10 hour nights anymore.
This is about 20 hours off each of my paychecks that Id gotten used to, and that I was able to use for some mini-crack. So, Im trying to decide if I just want to slow down, if I should take this as a chance to paint stuff thats been sitting in the Closet of Doom for the past few years, or if I should look into that AdSense thing to keep the plastic and pewter flowing....
Anyone got anything nice or bad to say about the program? If I put the ads up, would people stop visiting?
And now, the Ugly, so this isnt a totally off topic post ;)
I broke down and told Mikie what army Im playing this weekend, so that means I can tell you all too! I will be rolling out 2250 points of The Purge Chaos Marines against his Nuns with Guns on Saturday! Ill get an army list posted when I get home, and maybe even a pic of my models...
My chattering about anything that comes across my painting table, and some stuff that doesn't!

Last one for today...
Pictures!!!
So, I managed to get a pic of the bits before I started assembling them into Hondus Ect, and Im planning to add a pic of after assembly too, once its done.
But, that pic is pretty blurry, isnt it? I therefore have a make up pic, a fairly decent one at that, of my 5 man assault squad!! ...the one I said Id put up about a month ago. Yeah, yeah, I know, Im a bad blogger, no rum for me. ;)
Another dose of random fun
Lets see, where to start....
So, my office has put up its webfilter again. Doesnt stop me from visiting most Warhammer related sites... in fact, the only ones Ive noticed are TWF, The Warstore, and CMON. What it does do, however, is filter the pictures from the blogs that store them elsewhere. Bleh. The other thing it does, thats a lot more annoying, is prevent me from commenting on other blogs... or even on my own. So, if I want to reply to someone, I have to do it from home. Damn the Man!
Ive been slowly assembling the Red Scorpion tactical squad, and still havnt gotten the assault squad box I need yet. Once I do, that 1250 list will just need painting... which will have to wait until it warms up. Spraying in 30-40 degree weather is not much of a good idea.
Ive been forced to hold off on painting an APC for the BoLS Badab contest, the wife forgot I was planning on that and made a purchase without talking to me first. I might still get it on the 1st, but three or four days for assembly and painting probably wont be long enough.
Ive got that army of blue and white Space Marines, over 2k worth. Ive long been torn between calling them the Marines Errant or a home brewed chapter named the Angels of Purity. Today I finally decided I need to go one way or the other with them. Im going with the Marines Errant. My main reasons are that they have some decent fluff already (fought in the Badab War, just had most of their geneseed stolen by Huron Blackheart), their chapter badge looks fairly easy to paint (I hate decals, but was going to use one for their badge), and in fluff they fought on the same side as the Red Scorpions. The RS might be leery of being on the same battlefield as these guys, but I dont think they would have much problem if it were a case of "we will take this city, you go take that one, beer at your place when done."
Mikie and I have been trying to get a game together for about two weeks now, 2250, his Dark Angel/Witch Hunter alliance against a force Im not mentioning, since Im an evil ass, and going to surprise him. Hopefully we will get our act together and get the game done this weekend.
Keith, Mikie and I are still talking about a campaign, sorta... but Keith is possibly going on a 6 month working "vacation" pretty soon, so who knows. We still havnt really hashed out a good format for running it... Im seriously thinking that we will be waiting until the rumored Mighty Empires 40k comes out.
Today while poking around my desk I came across some Space Wolves, four wolf guard and a limited edition wolf priest... scratch that, two of the limited edition wolf priests. One on base, and one still in blister pack. I started these as an excuse to go crazy making wolf pelts out of green stuff, and Ive got to say that after 4-5 years of them sitting around, Im still happy with how it turned out. Maybe Ill add them to the crusade eventually.

Monday Top 10 #4
'Ere we go again!
1. John gives tips for the care and feeding of your paints.
2. Ron helps with the cleaning of your brushes.
3. Alvin goes step by step with a new plastic Nob.
4. Gahris gives tips for dealing with decals.
5. Siam gives tips and tactics for Eldar Rangers.
6. Adam talks about the Thousand Sons, a legion that always interested me.
7. Eek's Vulkan Hestan is very well done!
8. Peter shares a safety tip... and I think we all know someone who has a hobby related scar or two (me being one in this case, about a dozen stitches in my left hand at one point!)
9. Tips and pics of objectives from Siph.
10. Im not really a fan of "how to paint" videos, but Paul reviews a few of them for us!
And, since I had a difficult time saying no to this one, but couldnt say it was really useful, a comedy bonus from Ranillon!
Im really thinking I need to up the number on this, I had about a half dozen others I pruned off, like some pics of Raptors Space Marines and a decent Telion conversion.

Lord Commander Hondus Ect
Hondus Ect is the current Chapter Master of the Red Scorpions Space Marine chapter. He has held this prestigious position for roughly ninety years now. He was promoted to the position upon the death of the previous Lord Commander, from his position as Commander of the second company.
Scant hours after the ceremony, the Red Scorpions were called in to aid against the Astral Claws, in what would become known as the Badab War. Due to the Red Scorpions reputation as being suspicious of all other Imperial fighting forces, and the perceived lack of experience of their Chapter Master, they were assigned mainly to space lane duties. This did not stop Ect from proving his worth, as the Executioners received no mercy during their battles. To this day, even though the Executioners have received the Emperor's forgiveness, there is a bitter hatred between the Chapters.
Ect believes in complete tactical flexibility, and that the word of the Codex is the only word worth listening to. He, like the vast majority of the chapter, are mighty and proud warriors, and fight viciously to preserve their honor and the honor of the Emperor. Ect bears the traditional blade of the Lord Commander, the 'Imperial Might', an ancient blade said to have been presented to the first Lord Commander from an unknown source. He normally takes to combat with a jump pack, willing and able to commit anywhere the fighting is thickest.
-------
I decided to build Ect when I was looking at the VSgt Culln model, but I knew I had to make some changes. I decided to use the shoulder pads from the tac squad upgrade kit, since they are fancier, and the helmet from there as well, since the Aquila was larger. I decided against a grenade launcher and digital weapons because they seem a bit too sneaky for the Red Scorpions. I figured Id better give him a decent melee weapon, since he will be assaulting more often with a jump pack. My first though was a Lightning Claw, since Im not a huge fan of giving models with a higher initive a power fist. Once I decided on that, I was torn between a stormbolter or a combi-weapon of some sort. I finally decided on the stormbolter, since the bolter portion of the combi-weapons are rapid fire (and that means no charging). However, as I was locating bits, I discovered one of those large power swords from the Ravenwing sprue... and his lightning claw was instantly replaced with a Relic Blade.
When I get around to ordering more bits, I plan to make a foot version of Ect, though that may be more interesting, as Im going to have to "greenstuff" details on the legs, like the fancy kneepads and the emblem on his leg.

Quick Weekend Post
Ive been struck by inspiration and boy did it hurt.... I swear, inspiration must have a sock full of quarters or something.
Anyways, Ive got that VSgt Culln model from the Vanguard set, and Ive decided to convert it into the Chapter Master of the Red Scorpions, Hondus Ect.
However... Ive decided to actually make with the pictures and whatnot, and post it all on the blog, as a thank you to you all. Thank you for what? For getting me to 1,000 hits. As of right now we are sitting at just over 900, so Id better get crackin, huh?
Before people get crazy with the whole "jump packs are a waste for a Chapter Master, cuz of his Honor Guard", Im going to point out that no where does it say he has to join that unit, and that Marnius Calgar is allowed to take three such units. He cant join them all, and they are not allowed to join each other. That makes me think that they are an entirely separate unit (at least until GW clarifies).
Tomorrow night, while at work Im planning on writing out the background I have in mind for Hondus Ect, and hopefully if someone knows that there is a different Chapter Master for the Red Scorpions already (say in the IA6 that Ive not had a chance to purchase yet), they will let me know. :)
