The Rule of One (unit at a time)

Before, when collecting armies, Id usually pick up 5-6 boxes at once and try to assemble them and quickly get burnt out on that army fairly fast. When I started actually working on the Red Scorpions, one of the things I wanted to do was limit myself to a single squad on the painting table at a single time. It took me a while, but I finally broke that rule. Until today, there never was a good day to spray the models black, so what Id picked up was piling up. But now, they are all primed.

In order to limit whats in my face, and hopefully prevent burn out, Im moving most of the unpainted onto my gaming table, and leaving a single squad to work on at my desk. Im also going to set a list of what order I want to work on them, but thats so I can finally have a completely painted army at each of my point values.

So, the list and order Ill paint them in is:
5 Assault Marines with two plasma pistols.
4 Devastator Marines with bolters.
10 man tactical squad w/lascannon, meltagun, and VSgt with power sword.
Dreadnaught w/multimelta
Chapter Master Hondus Ect.

Im also looking to trade my Orks to Keith for some Rhinos, so if/when that goes through Ill probably squeeze a few in there between some of those.

I always hide my unpainted models. It's such a small thing but the mental difference it makes is huge!

I couldnt agree more. Someday Ill get smart and move my unpainted Imperial Fists off my desk...

I say limiting yourself in that way is a good thing...I know I sure feel overwhelmed when staring at 20 models all begging for paint.

I still have a Star Phantoms test mini to paint up before Thursday...gah. We'll see how that goes...

I too intend to limit myself to painting one unit at a time, however I'll assemble a whole lot before that, maybe 5-6 units.

It's kindlike having a beating stick for myself; Complete what I have in front of me before moving on to the next unit/army
