The best painting advice, EVER!!

So, in an attempt to be more interactive (and because Im waiting on paint to dry on those Red Scorpions), lets all do a bit of sharing... no, not that kind of sharing, keep your pants on.

The question is this: What is the best painting advice you have ever received?

For me, my neighbor when I was stationed in South Korea advised me to keep both hands on whatever I was painting, because peoples hands shake in different patterns. Keeping the model in contact with both hands means all the shaking is shared among both hands and the model, and you wont have to correct for it.

How about you?

Great post, I think that water is very important! There is nothing more annoying for me than when paint starts to dry due to it being too thick to spread evenly, and as you apply it to the smooth surface of a model, it comes out all clumpy and ridged. Therefore before I paint anything I spread some paint on laminated paper and add a tiny bit of water before mixing it in. Much smoother texture.

My best advice is to paint consistently, you should get better results from painting one man a day than painting seven dudes in one day.

@Gamers World: The flip side to that is to know when you are overdoing it. Painting one model a day may lead to pretty models, but will take forever to finish the army. But whether you paint one or seven, keeping the quality consistant is important. :)

I'd never considered that hands shake differently - but you're right, they do! Thanks for the tip.
