Top Ten Hall of Fame?

So, Ive noticed, and I am sure many others have as well, that the same couple of blogs tend to show up time and time again. Not that Ive really complained, they wouldnt be here if I didnt really like them.

Anyways, in order to give up and coming blogs a better chance, I am considering starting a Hall of Fame. Basically, I create a link section off to the side, and when a blog gets linked on the Top Ten a significant number of times, I add their link, and dont consider them for six months or so.

There are a few questions Ill need opinions for though... Mainly, is this a good idea? How many times should the cut off be? (I am thinking 10-15) And, is 6 months a decent amount of time? Maybe three months? A year?

Let me know what you think!

really good idea. Have it in a sidebar like FtW do. That way we can visit the top 10 for what is new and shiny and check out the hall of famers at the same time.

A list would be a good idea. Maybe have a sites that make it say 2 or 3 weeks in a month go to the top ten. Rank the list based on how long they are on it, and when new sites are added then the oldest ones drop off the list.

I really like this idea- having a section permenantly for popular blogs as decided by people looking at your site would be a great feature.

I'd say every 3 months would be a reasonable update period, and long enough for any "fad" viewing to be worn out in the numbers. Just one query- if you are planning to do this through links, have you made sure that it won't track Bots, as this may throw off the numbers?

MM(esno): I like that idea, no need to keep track of how long they are on the chart that way. Laziness FTW!

Tenzing: Well, I was looking less for how many hits they get, and more how many times I trip over their goodies each week. I honestly have next to no idea how I would track how many hits someone else gets from my blog.
