I give up...

Thats it, I quit.

No, not 40k or Warhammer, or even Warmachine. No, not blogging either. The Top Ten is safe as well (I hear a collective sigh of relief on that one).

So, what am I claiming the mighty title of Defeated on? My goal of only working on Space Marines (and Warmachine) in 2010. How did I come to this decision? Well, take a look at my blog, its been fairly dead lately. My painting table has been even more neglected. The last serious painting I did was when I was practicing sponge weathering, a month or more ago. I sat down last night and looked at my models and had no desire to even be in the same room as them. So, I sorted out all my books finally. 200-ish White Dwarf magazines and every army book, codex, and rule book for nearly every GW game since 2nd Ed 40k came out. That made me realize I want to do something, just not Space Marines.

What am I going to work on? Dunno. When am I going to start them? Dunno. Soon I hope. Do I have any ideas? Duh, this is me. ;)

Here is my "short" list of potentials. Some are here because Ive got stuff to work with already, others are stuff Ive been wanting to work on for a while. Im going to put them in order of most likely to least...

Imperial Guard
Chaos Space Marines
Tyranids
Orks
Eldar

Skaven
Dark Elves
The Empire
Lizardmen
Vampire Counts
High Elves
Orcs and Goblins

Quite the variety. About half of them were chosen simply because I have plenty of models already, like my Chaos Marines or the Dark Elves.

The thing that sucks is that the money I was planning on using to finance this new force with fell through, as the guy who was going to buy my Dwarfs decided to get out of the Warhammer hobby instead. Guess Ill be taking them to one of those bazaar things that are held at the Bunker every once in a while.

Well, Im going to dive into some army books, hopefully Ill come to a decision and get inspired to do something on the painting table soon!

I know that pain matey, try painting shades of grey on guard for two years.

I've found having my heroquest mini's to paint helps a lot as it's always something different if I need a break and I'm not committing to painting up another entire army.

Also, having the Going on Campaign blog also helps as it's a great distraction from painting.

Don't worry mate, you'll find your mojo again soon.

I give up too! Lookign at my "productivity" compared to my "awesome New Year's resolutions" and I've painted a whopping ONE fig this whole year!

One fig in almost three months!

Just call it a tactical retreat.

Isn't this typical Ryan must-play-every-army-itis?

I understand where you are coming from. I have been working on my Howling Griffons since October now and I am still not done painting them (that is what I get for choosing to do a quartered Red/Yellow army with extensive detail and some hand painted squad markings, custom decals, and heavy chipping and weathering, sigh).

I need to get them done before the 26th as I will be taking them to the St. Valentines Day Massacre GT Circuit Qualifier that weekend in PA.

However, in stead of jumping in to finish the rest of the stuff I have laying about extra, or moving to one of my other 40K or Fantasy army products I have chosen to switch gears and paint something dramatically different, namely Malifaux. A small (about 10 models) warband that I can spend some time on really perfecting each model and probably get to use my P3s on again (its easier to tell the kid who asked how I painted my Griffons the GW colors I used instead of explaining what P3s are and how they work differently).

Oh and I plan to work on a few terrain projects too, though I need to get some Warmachine done before Adepticon.
