This and that...
This weekend Ill be away, going to the Frozen North so the wife can spend time with her family... so Ill be sleeping, and reading rulebooks... Anyone around Bridgeport, CT interested in a small game of 40k sometime between Friday night and Monday morning? Ill be bringing my 1k list of Red Scorpions, I think...
Since Im planning on driving back Monday night, Im planning on having the Monday Top Ten set up before I leave... Ive seen mention that Blogger can schedule posts, so Ill give that a shot.
I pulled out my Cadian 42nd today, in order to get them prepared for the new book. I also pulled out the big box of unassembled IG, and discovered its not as full as I thought... Ive got more then enough models to have six 2-squad platoons, assuming I pick up that many command squads next month. I might just go for three platoons instead...
Mikie and I are discussing a "slow build" type event thing... starting off with 500 points of models, then adding a box set or so every other month. Im thinking of dusting off and painting my Warriors of Chaos and adding to them, where he is still looking at different armies. The other force Im considering would be a bit more money out of pocket from the begining: Vampire Counts... We will see if this gets off the ground.
Seeing as Im off tomorrow night, I should try to finish that Red Scorpion Assault squad after work. If I get it done, Ill slap some pics up here for you all. :)
I downloaded the Warmachine MKII rules yesterday, glanced over them, but havnt gotten around to reading them yet. Not having an opponent for that game makes it hard to pay attention to the rules...
Ive added a few more blogs to those I surf, another dozen last night alone. According to the Blog List thingie, there are 161 of them now... There should be no way that Id get bored!

Monday Gaming wrap up...
Mike came over this afternoon, and we had our little bash... Several years ago Id played against one too many Space Wolf Rhino Rushes, and swore Id never play against the Sons of Russ again. Ever. Time heals many wounds, and Id figured I was ok, two editions later. Well, after that 500 point game a little while back I was wondering... Today was 2000 points, a blue and white line against the darkness.
Mikie had some difficulties with arithmetic at first, and was short a few points (something like 160), so we decided to allow him to add in the points after turn one, but they had to come in as reserves. He ended up with a pair of wolf guard battle leaders, an iron priest, a rune priest, a large blood claw pack, a pair of grey hunter packs, some jump packers, a long fang pack, a predator, and a dreadnought. My list is two entries down. ;)
Turn one started off with my predator turning his into a nice and toasty fireball, and every heavy weapon that could draw LoS to the bloodclaws doing so... Turn two was those bloodclaws, along with the iron priest and WGBL, running off the table, and his dread charging my terminators... My turn three was my command squad taking apart a unit of grey hunters and the termies breaking his dreadnought. His turn three was him conceding. I lost three models over the entire game...
It felt good to finally tear the Space Wolves a new one, though games that are over that quick usually leave me feeling sort of guilty.
Lessons!
Dont forget to pop smoke, that 4+ cover for a razorback can save it!
Look at the table after deployment, and before turn one, make sure you know what units your opponent brought to the table... I didnt notice the Long Fangs in the tower until they wrecked my Razorback's twin lascannons.
Land Raider Crusaders are vicious. Even at range they can lay down a respectable amount of fire.
Err... If you are planning on shooting your enemy to bits, dont block off LoS completely...

Monday Top Ten #10
Here it is, tenth post of this run! 101 (or is it 102?) links shared so far, many more to go!
1. A while back, Lone Pilgrim made a point based painting system... but that link is older then a week, so Ill link Equinox's change made to the system!
2. Morkai has a Pre-Heresy Kharn, very nice conversion!
3. Klaus' greenstuff work is great, and he gives tips!
4. Have you seen Cannonfodder's Tau Skyray?
5. Bulwark talks about using hot salt for conversions...
6. ...And Grey Death talks about using it for weathering.
7. Chris has a Nurgle Sorcerer in the works...
8. ...And Darksol shares tactical info on the Space Marine Librarian.
9. Ron shares tips on wet-blending paints.
10. And finally: a little bit of the "IG Fever" from Paul.
Once again, these are only in the order I got around to putting them on the list, no real reason to read into it if the link is #1 or #10. Thanks to everyone for so many amazing posts, cutting the week's list down to just ten is always difficult, but fun!

Ive got a game against Mike tomorrow afternoon, 2k of my Space Marines against his Space Wolves... I should wait and post my list after the game, but Im bored and feel like tossing it up now. :)

145
Command Squad
2 Veterans w/ 1 Power Fist, Flamer
Apothecary w/ Chainsword
Champion w/Power Weapon, Combat Shield
Banner Bearer w/ Chainsword
Razorback w/ Twin Lascannon
175+75
Tactical Squad (10) w/ Heavy Bolter, Flamer
VSgt w/Power Fist
195
Tactical Squad (10) w/ Heavy Bolter, Meltagun
VSgt w/ Power Sword, Meltabombs
200
Tactical Squad (10) w/ Plasma Cannon, Plasma Gun
VSgt w/ Stormbolter
195
Tactical Squad (10) w/Missile Launcher, Plasma Gun
VSgt w/ Power Fist
205
Terminators (5) w/ 1 Chainfist, 1 Assault Cannon
Land Raider Crusader w/Stormbolter
235+260
Scouts (10) w/ Heavy Bolter
VSgt w/power fist
175
Predator w/ twin Lascannons, Heavy Bolters, Stormbolter
140
total: 2000
I decided to go with a full Marines Errant list, so this will be a line of blue and white against the slobbering hordes of blood claws and whatnot. The only ME model that wasnt included was the Librarian, and Im still not entirely convinced Im not gonna sub something out for him.
Currently the plan is to break them all into combat squads, spread them out so he can only charge one at a time, and concentrate fire where I can... Of course, I wont combat squad if we end up playing an annihilation mission...

Forge World goodies....
Everyone has seen the new Forge World stuff coming up, right? Of course we have. If you are just getting back from an internet free weekend, however, go take a peek at BoLS, they got the goods.
Ok, now that we are on the same page... Remember that post I did about a week ago, regarding my Forge World wish list? Looks like they covered part of it some. Couple more Daemon Engines! A big one, and a small one... just none that dance on their heads, but give them time, Im sure Tzeentch will get love eventually. ;)
That Khorne Slaughterer looks to be a confusing jumble of spikes, chainsaw blades, and armor plates... Perfect! I like the Blight Drones too, they seem to make me think of big, fat house flies...
Ok, time to go looking for more pics, cuz you know there has to be more! ;)
