Another question regarding the Top Ten, impact?

I was looking at the Followers list a few minutes ago, and trying to make sure I had added all those blogs to my Master List of Stuff to Surf, and somehow I got to thinking...

Obviously I like seeing the comments after I put up the Top Ten list, and people tell me that they like someone pointing out some of the cool stuff that might otherwise slip between the cracks.

What I want to know, is how many of the people that have been linked here have seen an increase in people following their blog or more comments or anything else of the like?

I understand that some sites (BoLS, FtW, a few others) might not really see the increase, but I do try to spread it out to some of the less well known blogs as well, and those are the ones Im curious about...

I can't reply regarding visitor numbers but there's a definite increase on the amount of comments on the post you like to after you listed it.

So, I'd definitely say it's increased my visitors mate. Keep up the good work.

I would think it's got to have an impact.

I know when I put up something on FTW that I like (and I follow the comments) there is lots of traffic after i do that.

So it's got to be similar here.

I have not made the cut in so long that I do not know. I would guess it does since I see a boost when Ron lists a post in "what he is reading" before that disappeared to the new reorg.

One thing you might want to do is create a little logo picture for it that people can post on their page with a link to the post. My wife has several of these from when really big crafting blogs feature her stuff.

eriochrome: The "What I'm reading" is going back in, I just can't add it back in right now. I need to do it at home.

Oh, and Ryan, your top tens make us want to get into the top ten by posting quality posts, so I admire your idea on doing that.

Not only that, it allows other readers to see what it means to get to the top 10.

I see more new visitors coming from your site then a huge boost in numbers which, in my eyes, is better!

And I agree with Alvin, I really think a lot of people strive to be included in your top ten plus I am always looking for stuff I missed via your site on Tuesdays!

We have seen a spike everytime you have mentioned us. Google Analytics tracks how many visits we have had directly from your site.

Cool, glad to hear that it is having a good impact on the community. :)

Thats an interesting idea, Eriochrome, a "Top Ten tag" for people to add to their posts when they get in... I might have to play around with trying to design something...

For sure theres an impact.

I usually get a spike when I put a new post up, but the week I had two entries in your top ten I got a lrger spike still than for a new post.

In fact that day still reads on google analytics as my busiest day. :)
