New Army Idea - Circle of Blood

I had this idea last week, and meant to put it up before now, but obviously I got lazy. Another fluff idea, but no need for a paint scheme, they are still World Eaters, just with a bloody circle as decoration where possible.

Even the mindless violence that is the Blood God of Chaos occasionally needs specific targets removed with little collateral damage. Whether its the removal of an enemy leader so that one more in line with Khorne's wishes ascends, or preparing a future champion for a life of hatred and bloodshed by destroying all they love before their eyes, the potential is endless. The average Berserker is ill suited for this role. Likewise, the daemons of Khorne are not known for their ability to reign in their bloodlust once the primary target has been removed. Thus, the Circle of Blood.

This warband follows signs and omens across the galaxy, making surgical strikes and small raids as their lord demands. Their name comes from a bizarre effect upon the battlefield: as the World Eaters prepare for the charge, a large circle of blood appears close to the person they are there to kill. The World Eaters make for this unnatural landmark and slaughter all around it, throwing the bodies into the circle. Once the being that Khorne has targeted has been placed in the circle, it vanishes, taking the corpses with it, to feed the daemonic legions. Once the circle has gone, the Khornate marines take care to leave the battlefield, inflicting as few casualties as possible, for none know why the Blood God aimed them there, just that he did.

While the average guardsman or space marine might not be able to tell the difference between the typical Khorne Berserker and a Circle of Blood Berserker, there are differences in the training, indoctrination, biological modification, and (most importantly) worship practices. The Circle's warriors veiw Khorne as the patron of the application of military force. Of course, this does not preclude them from enjoying the slaughter, just that they tend to have more control.

5. Big Al (whats with the Big guys?) has a nice Rhino and Plague Marine squad.
6. Big Al also has a converted Slanneshi... thing.
7. John has some Vraks renegade support units painted up.
8. The Mighty Flip makes me want to watch "Falling Down" again.
9. Siph has a nice Relictors Predator up... what do you mean, thats not Chaotic?
10. Mike shows us his nicely converted mechanized Rough Rider.

So, after actually writing those up, I realized I linked Hogs of War 5 times out of the 10... I was thinking of going back and looking for something else, but decided that since they put out that much that got my attention, Im leaving it as is!

Weekend Fun

Had a short weekend, due to being on swings last week, but it was full of fun stuff.

Went to DT's place for a couple games, played against some Ogres for the first game. Shot them up until they got to my side, then my warrior unit and thane met the survivors and... got chased off the table. But it was ok, the last two survivors came back on and ate a load of grapeshot.

The second game was 1k of my Crusade vs another Space Marine army. He had a pair of ten man tac squads, a five man assault squad, a five man dev squad with missile launchers, and a chaplain led assault termy squad. My list was the Librarian, two tac squads, a scout squad, a dread and a standard termy squad.

He worked on slogging over with the units without heavy weapons, and deepstriked his termies in. I lit up the termies until one and the chaplain were left, then charged in with the dread. The Librarian and my termy squad used Gate of Infinity and popped around and lit stuff up. This was also the first time I used Outflank... why didnt I ever do this before? My scouts popped in on the side and got in with his Devastators... Im definitely going to be using this list a few more times.

After these two games I watched Mikie and DT play a game of Monsterpacalypse, that looked amusing, even if it did set off my "I hate pre-painted" alarm. I had to take off a little early cuz I was expecting to go to a BBQ... that was cancelled. >.<
